Our planet has been in existence millions of years before our ancestors first happened to dominate the life on earth. Over the last century, human population has grown exponentially and vast resources of the world have become scarce. Only recent high technology enabled us discover that we are tenants on earth, and bad ones actually. Nowadays we try to legitimize our presence and guarantee our future on the planet. Climate Change is a fact and its caused by us. We are living in a world that only buildings consume 40% of the world’s primary energy and in return responsible from 40% of the global greenhouse gas emissions. This phenomenon could only be eliminated by zero-energy structures, i.e. intelligent and efficient buildings that must generate and store energy, enhance our comfort and productivity with better resource use. Architects are at the forefront of this radical transformation, the most challenging endeavor for mankind in the history – we as a young firm must plan to position ourselves in this “The New Big Game”.
